In many cases, the problem is instead that<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>the controller has not been woken up<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>the battery is low or empty<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>the controller is out of range<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>the controller or the brake unit needs a simple reset<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">When should you pair a controller?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">You normally only need to pair a controller if:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>it was delivered separately<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>support has asked you to pair it again<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>you have tried the usual checks and the controller still does not connect<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Before you try to pair again<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Try this first:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Check the light signals.<\/strong> If SmartBrake shows a <strong>green blinding light,<\/strong>it means the system does not have active signal contact.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Wake the controller.<\/strong> Activate the controller once after the brake unit has been turned on.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Check the battery in the controller.<\/strong>If fail-safe does not release, you should check that the controller has battery power.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Check the administrator controller.<\/strong> SmartBrake must always have contact with an <strong>awake administrator controller<\/strong> within range in order to operate.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Reset the brake unit.<\/strong> Press and hold the activation button until the brake light has lit up <strong>3 times.<\/strong>This takes about <strong>30 seconds<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Try pairing again. <\/strong>If this still does not help, you can try pairing the controller again.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">How to pair a controller<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Turn off the SmartBrake unit.<\/strong> Make sure the SmartBrake unit is turned off before entering pairing mode.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Enter pairing mode.<\/strong> Press and hold the button on the unit for about <strong>10 seconds,<\/strong>until the red light stays solid. A solid red light means the SmartBrake unit is in pairing mode.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Activate the controller<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Use the controller you want to pair:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>pull <strong>the Brake Lever Slim<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>pull <strong>the Thunb Brake Lever<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>press <strong>\u201cBRAKE\u201d<\/strong> on the Hand Controller<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>If pairing is successful, the red light on the unit will turn off.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-cover is-light has-white-color has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-a1aac377a0c5357dcab331083f482685 wp-duotone-unset-1\"><video class=\"wp-block-cover__video-background intrinsic-ignore\" autoplay muted loop playsinline src=\"https:\/\/smartgroup.no\/wp-content\/uploads\/Connect-a-BLS-to-Unit-2.mov\" style=\"object-position:22% 71%\" data-object-fit=\"cover\" data-object-position=\"22% 71%\"><\/video><span aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-cover__background has-black-background-color has-background-dim\"><\/span><div class=\"wp-block-cover__inner-container is-layout-flow wp-block-cover-is-layout-flow\">\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center has-large-font-size wp-block-paragraph\">How to pair a remote<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Important before pairing<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If an old spare controller is still nearby, especially an old administrator controller, the battery should be removed before pairing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This reduces the risk of the wrong controller being connected.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Step 4: Wake the controller after pairing<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">After pairing is complete and the SmartBrake unit has been turned on again, the controller must be woken up before the system can be used normally.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If the controller is not woken up, SmartBrake will go into fail-safe and show a <strong>green blinding light,<\/strong>this means the braking system does not have active signal contact.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This does not necessarily mean that pairing has failed.
