While many other companies have had to downsize during the corona pandemic, Rollersafe AS has gone the opposite way and increased staffing.
Rollersafe AS was founded in 2013 and is headquartered at Sletta in Son. The founders develop products that can be used, among other things, as aids for people with disabilities.
The adventure began with the development of a wireless brake for roller skis. The brake requires very little hand force and is therefore particularly suitable for people with disabilities. It was launched in 2015/16 and is now sold in 20 countries around the world.
They are now developing the technology further and fitting the unique brake on several products, including bicycles and wheelchairs. The wireless technology can also be used to control propulsion, tilt, lock and other functions.
Received millions in funding
- "We've now received NOK 3.5 million in funding from Innovation Norway, SkatteFUNN and DOGA (Design and Architecture Norway). This means that we have been able to create new jobs during the corona pandemic, when many people have been laid off or lost their jobs," says CEO Atle Stubberud. He also runs Soon Design in the same premises.
The Son company has received a further boost by securing two framework agreements with NAV. The number of employees has now increased from four to nine.
High level of expertise
The staff have a high level of expertise and enjoy their work with varied and exciting tasks.
- It's all going well here! We call ourselves Fast Track Innovation," says Stubberud.
Smart Brake Technology is the world's first multifunctional wireless braking solution for sports, mobility and light electric vehicles. The technology is patented and has been honoured with several awards for innovative product design.
