About RollerSafe
RollerSafe is the world's first roller ski with electronic brakes. The award-winning RS Smart Brake Technology provides easy and safe speed reduction in all conditions and user situations.
SmartBrake is completely wireless and operated via Bluetooth/RF signals. It offers smooth electronic braking and allows users to brake using remotes, which is especially beneficial for adaptive sports or cyclists with limited hand functionality. It also includes a fail-safe system, which automatically applies the brakes if the signal is interrupted or lost.
At the moment, RollerSafe is available with shoes that use the NNN system.
Yes, RollerSafe is designed to provide safe braking on downhill slopes. The electronic braking system allows you to precisely control your speed, improving safety and stability.
Our products are assembled, tested and dispatched from RollerSafe's head office at Fornebu outside Oslo. Our test facilities and workshop are among the most advanced in roller skis.
The RS Remote can be customised with most Swix pole models, and a selective range from OneWay. For other pole models with a diameter of 16 mm, we recommend purchasing a pair of Swix handles. You can also buy complete Swix poles in our webshop. For other pole models with a diameter of 16mm, we recommend buying a pair of Swix pole shafts. You can also buy complete Swix poles in our webshop.
In use
The braking force can be adjusted using the RS Safety app. Connect your skis to the app via Bluetooth and use the scale in the app to adjust the braking force to your needs.
A constant green light on the skis indicates that they are fully charged. Charging time is approx. 7 hours.
Yes, the skis can withstand rain, but it is recommended to avoid very wet conditions to protect the electronics. Clean your skis after use in wet conditions to prevent damage.
Check the battery in the remote control and make sure it is properly connected to the skis. If necessary, restart the connection via the RS Safety app or contact support.
Installation
Start by charging the skis for about 7 hours for a full charge. Read through the user manual carefully. Once the skis are charged, connect them to the RS Safety app to adjust the braking force.
The remote control is mounted by sliding it into place on the ski pole. It is compatible with most Swix poles, but can also be used with other poles with a 16 mm diameter.
Make sure the skis are charged. Open the RS Safety app, connect your skis to the USB charger and follow the instructions in the app to establish the connection.
The app is only used to update the brake settings and is not required to use the roller skis.
No, but we recommend Swix poles for optimal compatibility. Other pole types with 16 mm diameter can also be used with suitable handles.
Yes, for optimal performance you should update your ski software through the RS Safety app when new updates are available.
Maintenance and troubleshooting
Clean your skis regularly with a cloth and mild soap. Avoid using a high-pressure washer, as this can damage wheel bearings and electronics.
Check that the charging cable is connected correctly. Try a different USB charger to rule out errors. If the problem persists, contact RollerSafe support.
Check that the batteries are fully charged and check the connection between the remote control and the skis. Adjust the braking force via the app and test the function.
Store your skis in a dry place and clean them after use. Charge the batteries regularly, even during periods when the skis are not in use, to avoid deep discharge.
Minor maintenance, such as cleaning and replacement of wearing parts, can be carried out yourself. For technical faults, it is recommended to contact authorised service or SmartGroup support.
