Seated outdoor activity: from an idea to equipment selection

Would you like to take part in an outdoor activity while seated, or are you planning a programme for several people? Start with the activity the person wants to do, where it will take place and what assistance is needed. This is a stronger basis for choosing equipment than a product photograph alone.
Describe the whole activity
A family winter outing and a regular programme at an activity centre may require different arrangements. Include the person’s preferences, access to the location and equipment transport. Following injury or a change in function, discuss the need for an individual assessment with a relevant professional. A product page cannot determine when or how you can return to activity.
- Where will the activity take place, and on which surfaces?
- Is a seated or kneeling setup needed, and what support needs assessment?
- How will transfers, transport and storage be handled?
- Who will help with preparation, instruction and follow-up?
Spike and Spike Snow use different setups
Spike is the wheeled model for activity on bare ground. Spike Snow is the snow version. The product family includes seated and kneeling setups, and Spike Snow Kids is a children’s variant. Do not select a surface or size from the family name alone: ask about the specific model and its instructions.

Example: an activity centre explores a new programme
Imagine an activity centre planning seated activities on its grounds. Before requesting a price, one person gathers information about the surface, transport and participants’ needs. The centre then asks about a suitable model, individual adjustments and instruction. This is a planning example, not a claim that one setup suits every participant.
For shared use, clarify the manufacturer’s terms, individual fitting and responsibility for settings, cleaning and maintenance. Equipment adjusted for one person should not simply be handed to the next participant without these checks.
What should be established before choosing?
- Model, size, setup and intended surfaces.
- Support and assistance before, during and after the activity.
- Available documentation, instruction and practical follow-up.
- Trial opportunities in your area, confirmed before arranging travel.
Funding is a separate question. Mentioning Spike is not a promise of funding for a particular model or applicant. Use the relevant country guide and clarify procurement separately if you represent an organisation.
