Wireless braking: SmartBrake Hybrid companion control

What is SmartBrake Hybrid?
SmartBrake Hybrid provides wireless companion control for brake activation. Assess the application and setup against the product’s intended purpose and instructions for use.
Positioning the brake lever with GripAdapt
Children or adults with smaller hands may find the original brake levers difficult to reach. SmartBrake Hybrid can be combined with GripAdapt. These wedges tilt the brake lever, moving it 10–30 mm closer to the handlebar.
Consider the following when choosing an adaptation:
Adapting an existing lever: Check compatibility, parts and installation before choosing a solution.
Reach: GripAdapt changes the position of the brake lever on compatible setups.
Installation: The wedges fit onto existing equipment without replacing the entire brake system or bleeding it again.
Compatibility: GripAdapt is currently designed for Magura HS11, with versions for other brake levers under development.
SmartBrake Hybrid wireless brake features:
- Wireless companion control: A companion can activate the brake using a wireless controller.
- Installation: One of the original brakes is replaced by the SmartBrake Hybrid unit, supplied pre-bled for installation on the bicycle.
- Brake options: Configurations are available for disc and rim brakes.
- Operation: The setup may include both the cyclist’s lever and a companion’s controller.
Who might consider SmartBrake Hybrid?
SmartBrake Hybrid is designed for configurations involving supervised cycling, for example:
- Children and young people learning to cycle: Where a parent needs access to companion-operated braking.
- Cyclists requiring companion-assisted braking, following an individual assessment of the situation and the product’s intended purpose.
- Schools and institutions: Configuration must be based on individual assessment, training and correct installation.
Assess the choice of SmartBrake Hybrid in relation to the bicycle, configuration and intended situation.
