SmartGroup seeks selected European partners for SmartBrake
SmartGroup is selectively expanding its European partner network for SmartBrake. We would like to hear from technical distributors, specialist retailers, manufacturers and selected professional organisations that see a specific connection between SmartBrake and the products, customers or markets they already work with.
SmartGroup develops solutions for adapted cycling in Norway, with SmartBrake central to our work. As we seek to develop our European partner network further, our aim is not to find a distributor in every country. We would rather work with a smaller number of strong partners who understand adapted products, have relevant technical expertise and see a clear role for SmartBrake in their market or product portfolio.
Why SmartBrake?
SmartBrake is a configurable braking system for adaptive cycles and other cycling solutions where a conventional brake does not fully meet the cyclist's needs. Depending on its configuration, SmartBrake can offer easier operation for people with reduced hand function, alternative ways to operate the brake and the option of companion-assisted braking.
The SmartBrake platform includes Hybrid, Wireless and Switch, along with several alternative brake controllers. For us, it is about more than supplying a brake: it is about finding the right combination of cycle, braking system, control and application. That is why the right partners matter too.
Who would we like to work with?
We are primarily interested in technical distributors and specialist retailers already working in adapted cycling, rehabilitation or mobility. A good SmartBrake partner should be able to demonstrate the system, discuss different configurations with customers and professionals, and provide local installation or technical support.
We would also like to speak with manufacturers of adaptive cycles, tricycles, handcycles and other mobility products. SmartBrake may be relevant as an alternative or accessory when a standard braking solution does not suit a particular cyclist or situation. In discussions with manufacturers, we prefer to start with something specific, such as a particular cycle model, product platform or functional need where testing SmartBrake could be relevant.
We are also open to working with established rehabilitation and mobility organisations with strong professional networks. Selected technical, clinical and professional teams may also be suitable partners where there is a specific opportunity for testing, documentation or developing practical reference cases.
What can SmartGroup contribute?
Working with SmartGroup involves more than access to the product itself. Depending on the partnership, we can contribute SmartBrake Hybrid, Wireless and Switch, different brake controllers, demonstration configurations, technical training and personal support.
We can also assist with configuration and product selection, demonstrations and trials, OEM integration and testing. In some projects, collaboration on special adaptations and product development may be relevant. Our strength lies in combining product technology, technical problem-solving and the ability to adapt the solution to the person, cycle and application.
Which markets are we prioritising?
Germany is currently our most important market for further partner development. We are also particularly interested in relevant partners in Benelux, Central Europe and Southeast Europe.
Geography alone, however, does not determine whether a partnership is of interest. We are open to strong candidates in other European markets where there is a clear product, technical or commercial fit. Existing partner territories will be respected.
We want to start with something specific
We do not expect a new partner to commit to an extensive partnership from day one. In many cases, we believe the best starting point is a specific pilot project to establish together whether there is a good technical and commercial fit.
For a distributor, this might mean setting up a demonstration configuration, learning how SmartBrake is configured and identifying the first relevant customers or use cases. For a manufacturer, it might mean selecting one cycle or product platform and exploring how SmartBrake can be integrated. This gives both parties the opportunity to assess the partnership in practice before taking it further.
Could SmartBrake fit your market or products?
If you already work in adapted cycling, rehabilitation or mobility, or manufacture a product where an alternative braking solution could meet a specific functional need, we would like to hear from you.
When contacting us, please tell us which countries or markets you cover, your company name and website, the products or brands you currently work with, the type of partnership you have in mind and why SmartBrake could be relevant to your customers or products.
