SmartGroup expands its capabilities through a partnership with Teknovo

SmartGroup now offers 3D printing for assistive equipment and precision 3D scanning in Norway through a partnership with Teknovo. Together, we can digitise existing equipment and manufacture custom parts.
This enables us to offer adaptation, development and functional design services for individuals, businesses, therapists and organisations in Norway.

Custom assistive equipment using 3D scanning
Assistive equipment, sports equipment and technical solutions may need to fit existing equipment or individual requirements. With 3D scanning we can:
- Digitise physical objects
- Create digital models of existing equipment
- Develop or adapt parts without original drawings
Examples include:
- Bicycle handlebars, frame parts or grips
- Adapting assistive equipment to existing wheelchairs or bicycles
- Replacement parts that are no longer manufactured
3D scanning provides a basis for further design, simulation and manufacturing.

3D printing in suitable materials: from prototype to finished part
SmartGroup has experience developing assistive equipment where 3D printing is used for both prototypes and finished components, including products such as SmartBrake — an electronic braking system that uses 3D-printed parts in development and production. Through Teknovo, we have access to:
- Additional manufacturing methods
- A broader range of materials
- Options for strength, flexibility and surface finish
This supports the production of:
- Custom assistive equipment
- Functional components for everyday use
- Small and medium production runs
Adapted to the user, loading and application.
Customising assistive equipment in practice
For assistive equipment users, fit and precision are relevant considerations. These should be assessed for the intended use.
By combining:
- 3D scanning of existing equipment or user interfaces
- CAD development
- 3D printing in a suitable material
we can develop solutions that:
- Are designed to fit existing setups
- Are designed for the relevant user interface.
- Address requirements for durability and loading
Relevant fields include:
- Mobility and cycling
- Adaptive sports and leisure equipment
- Assistive technology
Who is this for?
We work with:
- Individuals who need adapted solutions
- Businesses developing products or requiring custom parts
- Organisations and professional groups in assistive technology and rehabilitation
Projects range from simple individual components to more complex development programmes.
From idea to finished solution
With additional capacity in 3D scanning, CAD and 3D printing SmartGroup offers:
- Development services
- Technical design services
- Customisation for specific requirements
Available through one provider in Norway.
