SmartBrake Switch

SmartBrake Switch

SmartBrake Switch is the series that applies braking when the grip on the control lever is released. This differs from Wireless and must be assessed for the individual rider.

Switch does not guarantee the prevention of accidents. Assess operation, the bicycle and training. SmartBrake must be used with at least one other independent, functioning brake.

About the product

Get to know SmartBrake Switch

Brake on release

Switch uses a different operating principle from Wireless: braking is applied when the lever is released.

Specific Switch controls

The Switch manual describes a thumb brake and brake lever. Confirm component compatibility for the specific system being supplied.

Individual assessment

The ability to hold and release the control, its position and the other brakes must be assessed before choosing a setup.

A different operating principle

Switch can be considered when the required operation is braking on release of the grip. It does not identify why the grip has been released.

Assess and try the solution for the rider’s movements and activity. Review the configuration and operation before use.

Check components and documentation

Provide the bicycle model, brake system and required operation. Do not assume that a Wireless control or a component from a different setup can be used as Switch.

Use the Switch instructions for the serial number. Follow activation and function-test instructions before use, and contact SmartGroup if the documentation is unclear.

Questions and answers

Common questions about SmartBrake Switch

These answers are an overview. Follow the applicable instructions for operation and safety.

How does Switch differ from Wireless?

Switch applies braking when the grip is released. Wireless applies braking when the control is pressed. This is an important distinction when choosing a system and learning to use it.

Can I change Wireless to Switch myself?

Do not assume this is a setting you can change yourself. SmartGroup must check the components, setup and documentation before any change.

Does Switch detect unconsciousness?

Its operating principle is braking when the grip is released. It does not detect consciousness or guarantee the prevention of an accident.
